Dear Family & Friends,
We've made it to Nairobi!!! It was a terrific journey all the way from Pittsburgh to JFK on to Amsterdam and then finally to Nairobi. The children are remarkable with their ability to hunker down for the long trip and the make the most of the on-flight films, playing games together during 4-5 hour layovers, and helping one another out with bags, airplane food, and other travel nuances. We give thanks for such a smooth and safe journey and couldn't be more thrilled to be here at our "second home" in Kenya, the Mayfield Guest House.
Thanks to ALL of you who sent us off with such love. From hand-written notes from the children's classmates, to an "Africa Survival Kit" full of games, toys, and goodies, to new notebooks and pens, to very cuddly stuffed animals...you all really spoiled our children!!! We had an amazing home-made Peking duck meal on Thursday evening prepared by Paul's Mom, Marty, and Swedish pancakes for breakfast - YUM! Linda Bach and Mom & Dad Larson helped us to transport our TWELVE pieces of luggage to the airport. We felt very loved as we said Goodbye.
We're thankful for new friends, teachers, and others who have come into our lives since we came back to America to live. So...if you have a moment, grab a cup of chai and allow us to give you a quick review of this precious place known as Kapsowar, Kenya.
AIM's media department, On-Field Media, came to Kapsowar in the Fall of 2008 to produce the following video for our family as we prepared to come back to the States after serving at the hospital for 2 years. www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_4EJz5hSJ8.
We returned to Kapsowar in February 2012 with a team of students and medical residents and had such a special time reconnecting with friends. A video that Juliana made from that time can be found at http://vimeo.com/41200600.
And now, here we are, feeling the joy and privilege of the opportunity to serve at Kapsowar Hospital and reconnect with friends. Again, our heartfelt thanks to all of you who are on this journey with us. Today will be a trip down memory lane as we visit with old friends, show the three boys the hospital where they were born, and recall stories of God's faithfulness and provision.
